We’re excited to share some incredible news — Exmouth Bus Charter has been announced as a finalist in the 2025 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards for Business Excellence. This recognition highlights the hard work, dedication, and passion our team has poured into building a trusted, reliable, and locally owned transport service in the heart of Western Australia’s Coral Coast.

The WA Tourism Awards, presented annually by the Tourism Council WA, celebrate outstanding businesses that deliver exceptional experiences to visitors from around the world. From eco-tour operators to accommodation providers, these awards acknowledge the best of the best across Western Australia’s vibrant tourism industry.

Being named a finalist in the Business Excellence category is a proud moment for our team. It reflects our commitment to not only providing safe and comfortable bus transfers but also playing a role in showcasing Exmouth’s unique landscapes, wildlife, and community spirit.

Our Journey So Far

Since taking over Exmouth Bus Charter in 2024, owners Stephan and Stella Klopper have worked tirelessly to reinvigorate the business. With a strong focus on airport transfers, private charters, group transport, and guided day tours, the company has quickly become a cornerstone for visitors and locals needing dependable transport in Exmouth.

Our mission is simple: to be the local experts in comfortable and reliable transfers and tours. Whether it’s welcoming travellers at Learmonth Airport, providing seamless wedding or corporate transport, or introducing visitors to the wonders of Cape Range National Park and Ningaloo Reef, we pride ourselves on offering more than just a ride — we deliver an experience.

From commissioning Aboriginal artist Rachael Cooyou to design artwork for our new bus wrap, to partnering with local tour operators and venues, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.

Top 5 Trails in Exmouth

If you’re planning a trip to Exmouth, Western Australia, you’re in for more than world-class snorkelling at Ningaloo Reef. This coastal town is surrounded by rugged gorges, limestone ranges, and wildlife-rich landscapes that make it one of the best hiking destinations in WA. From short coastal strolls to rewarding canyon climbs, Exmouth’s walking trails in Cape Range National Park offer unforgettable views and unique encounters with nature. Whether you’re a casual walker or an avid hiker, these top trails deserve a spot on your itinerary.

1. Mandu Mandu Gorge Trail 

This short loop is a great introduction to Exmouth’s gorge country. The track winds through a dry gorge before climbing to a ridge with sweeping views over Ningaloo Reef. Along the way, you may spot fossils embedded in the limestone and euros grazing in the shade. Uneven terrain means sturdy shoes, water, and sun protection are recommended.

2. Yardie Nature Trail & Yardie Creek Gorge Trail 

  • Yardie Nature Trail (Easy, 1.5 km loop) – A gentle walk along the edge of Yardie Creek, offering sweeping views and wildlife sightings. Family-friendly and perfect for a relaxed morning or late afternoon stroll.

  • Yardie Creek Gorge Trail (Moderate, 2 km return) – Slightly more demanding than the Nature Trail, this track climbs higher along the gorge wall with rewarding outlooks over the creek and Ningaloo Reef.

3. Charles Knife Canyon 

Trail options range from short walks to longer hikes along the canyon rim. Hikers are rewarded with dramatic ridges and panoramic views over the coastal plain and Ningaloo Reef. Uneven, rocky terrain makes this trail best suited to those comfortable with moderate walking and some scrambling. Sunset is especially spectacular.

4. Shothole Canyon 

Accessible via gravel road, Shothole Canyon features short trails that wind through dramatic limestone cliffs and colourful rock formations. Uneven surfaces and rugged terrain make this trail moderately challenging, but it’s a manageable introduction to Exmouth’s outback landscapes. Spring wildflowers add bursts of colour.

5. Badjirrajirra Loop Trail 

This 8 km circuit at Charles Knife Gorge is the most demanding trail on the list. Hikers traverse rugged plateaus, rocky gullies, and spinifex country with panoramic views of the Ningaloo Coast and Exmouth Gulf. Allow 3–4 hours to complete, carry plenty of water, and prepare for a physically rewarding experience.

Tips for Hiking in Cape Range National Park

  • Park entry fees apply – A day pass costs $17 per vehicle, or you can purchase a holiday or annual pass for longer stays.
  • Check conditions before you go – Contact the Parks and Wildlife Service in Exmouth on (08) 9947 8000 for updates. Trails and roads can close after rain.
  • Know your trail grade – Walks are classified under the Australian Walking Track Grading System. Choose one that suits your fitness level.
  • Best time to hike – Avoid the extreme summer heat (November–March). April to September offers cooler, safer conditions. Start early or head out late for the most comfortable walking.
  • Safety first – Don’t hike alone, let someone know your plans, and carry a personal locator beacon (PLB) for remote trails.
  • Be prepared – Sturdy shoes, a hat, sun protection, and at least 4 litres of water per person are essential.
  • Scenic lookouts – Charles Knife Gorge Road and Shothole Lookout both offer some of the park’s most breathtaking views.
  • Visitor info – The Milyering Discovery Centre on Yardie Creek Road is a great stop for maps, advice, and local knowledge.

Introducing Spike 2.0: A Bus That Tells a Story

Introducing Spike 2.0

There’s a new face in town, and it’s not just any bus. Meet Spike 2.0, the latest vehicle in the Exmouth Bus Charter fleet, wrapped in a vibrant fusion of culture, Country, and wildlife.

Designed in collaboration with Baiyungu artist Rachael Cooyou and local photographer Tash Allen, Spike 2.0 is more than just a means of transport. It’s a tribute to the deep connections between people, animals, and the land we call home.

Rachael’s artwork brings the Dreaming to life, sharing the cultural significance of animals like the kangaroo, echidna, goanna, and emu, each a spiritual totem, a teacher, and a storyteller.

“These animals are celebrated in songs, dances, and artworks,” says Rachael. “They’ve guided us for generations, showing us where to find water, where to shelter, and how to live respectfully with nature.”

Taking inspiration from these stories, Tash selected photographs of local creatures that echo these totems, from a much-loved emu to a nesting osprey family, pink galahs, and even a few reptiles for the herpetology fans: the northern spiny-tailed gecko, a perentie, and the rarely seen Pilbara death adder.

“We wanted each bus in the fleet to tell a different ecological story,” says Tash. “Spike 2.0 is all about the reptiles and birds. It’s a way to showcase the incredible biodiversity of the North West Cape.”

Seeing these elements brought together on a full vehicle wrap is a powerful experience. “It’s amazing to see your work on something so large and mobile,” says Tash. “I hope it sparks curiosity and appreciation for the place we live.”

Wildflower Magic Along WA’s Coral Coast

From late winter through spring, the Coral Coast quietly transforms. Between Cervantes and Exmouth, coastal plains, inland ranges, and sandy dunes become dotted with wildflowers in soft pastels and bold bursts of colour. It’s a seasonal shift that adds a new layer of beauty to an already stunning stretch of Western Australia.

When to Visit

While the Coral Coast has wildflowers year-round, the real show happens between July and October. The exact timing and intensity change each year, depending on rainfall and sunshine, which means no two seasons are ever the same.

What You Might See

Some wildflowers seem to have been made for the camera, their shapes and colours as striking as the landscapes they grow in. Keep an eye out for:

  • Purple Mulla Mulla – tall, fluffy spikes that thrive in the Ningaloo region
  • Cape Range Grevillea – vibrant orange blossoms favoured by nectar-feeding birds
  • Sturt Desert Pea – bold red petals with a deep black centre
  • Green Bird Flower – a quirky bloom shaped like a tiny green bird mid-flight
  • Wattles – splashes of golden yellow brightening the bush
  • Banksias, Wild Roses, Felty Corchoris, and Minilya Lilies – each adding their own burst of colour

Blooming Hotspots

Ningaloo Coast & Cape Range National Park

The Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area, including Coral Bay, Carnarvon, and Exmouth, is a wildflower paradise. Cape Range National Park alone is home to more than 600 species of flowering plants, with some of the most scenic displays found along:

  • Mandu Mandu Gorge – wildflowers lining the walking trail with views across ancient limestone cliffs
  • Shothole Canyon – a colourful contrast to the rugged red rock walls
  • Charles Knife Canyon – sweeping vistas with splashes of blooms along the ridges
  • Yardie Creek Gorge – flowers set against deep blue waters and dramatic cliffs

Carnarvon and Beyond

Further south, the plains around Carnarvon showcase diverse wildflowers that thrive along riverbanks and coastal flats, making it a beautiful stop on your road trip.

Here’s everything you need to know about our Airport Shuttle Service – designed to get you where you need to go, reliably and comfortably.

Arriving in Exmouth

We meet every scheduled arriving flight at Learmonth Airport. When booking, just select the time slot that matches your flight’s arrival time – our system is synced with flight schedules.

After landing, collect your luggage and head to the “Airport Shuttle” desk inside the terminal to check in with your driver before boarding. From there, we’ll take you directly to your accommodation in Exmouth – whether that’s a resort, holiday park, or residential address in town.

Heading home? We’ve got you covered. Our shuttle departs approximately two hours before each scheduled flight from Learmonth Airport.

  • Check-in and security with time to spare

Pick-ups are scheduled on the day to accommodate all guests, so please be ready with your bags outside your accommodation from the time listed on your confirmation.

Big news from our little corner of the Ningaloo Coast!

We’ve got some exciting news to share — Exmouth Bus Charter has been selected for the 2025/2026 Dream Collective Western Australia! 

This incredible program, run by Tourism WA and Tourism Council WA, recognises tourism operators who are doing great things for the industry, from providing top-notch customer experiences to driving sustainability, innovation, and community pride.

To be chosen as part of this year’s cohort is a huge honour for our team. We’re a locally owned, family-run business that’s passionate about connecting people with everything this region has to offer — from seamless airport shuttles and charter services to guided tours through Cape Range National Park. Being recognised in The Dream Collective tells us we’re on the right track.

So what is The Dream Collective?

Think of it as a who’s-who of WA tourism. Each year, a handpicked group of operators are selected based on things like customer satisfaction, marketing excellence, accessibility, and sustainability. Stargazing, Storytelling & Dining Under the Stars in Exmouth WA.

The Ningaloo Sky Festival is a brand-new biennial event in Exmouth, Western Australia, inviting visitors to experience the magic of the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area — where culture, cuisine, and celestial wonders collide.

Organised by the Shire of Exmouth, this exciting new event celebrates everything that makes the region special: vibrant local culture, native ingredients and bush flavours, Indigenous storytelling, astronomy talks, and incredible stargazing experiences beneath some of the clearest skies in the world.

As proud locals, Exmouth Bus Charter was thrilled to support the festival by offering a community shuttle service, helping locals and visitors travel easily between town events.

One of the highlights? We had the honour of transporting guests into Cape Range National Park for an exclusive dinner under the stars at Charles Knife Canyon — one of the most spectacular landscapes in the region.

With only a handful of guests across two intimate nights, this unforgettable experience featured:

  • A native-inspired degustation menu by Executive Chef Paul ‘Yoda’ Iskov and the Fervor team

  • Live music and Indigenous storytelling beneath a canopy of stars

  • A peaceful, remote setting framed by the dramatic cliffs of Charles Knife Canyon

It was a true celebration of land, sky, and story, capturing the spirit of the Ningaloo Coast in the most magical way.

We’re proud to have played a part in this first-ever festival and can’t wait to see it return in 2027!

Volunteer Thank You Night

Here at Exmouth Bus Charter, we know how lucky we are to live in a town where people step up for one another. Whether it’s responding to emergencies, helping out behind the scenes, or just showing up when it counts, our local volunteers are the heart of the community. And we reckon that’s something worth celebrating.

That’s why, together with Centacare Community Volunteer Services Exmouth, we hosted a special Volunteer Thank You Night — a chance to say a heartfelt thanks to the legends who give their time and energy to keep Exmouth safe, supported and strong.

 

Held at The Shack – Mexican Kitchen on Tuesday 20 May, the night brought together volunteers from all walks — including St John Ambulance, the Bush Fire Brigade, SES, and more. It was a laid-back evening full of good food, good music, and great company.
